I wrote this in English for all of my friends that can't read Spanish.
Thank you, for taking the time to visit my homepage. You can call me Mark or Marco it doesn’t matter which one you use I answer to both. This is my first homepage and I plan to put a 100% into it as I do everything else. There are many reasons I decided to put this together. First, I want to clear up any misconception about the Puerto Rican culture and race. I have many cultural things to help people understand how diverse the Puerto Rican culture is. There's a large misconception about how Puerto Ricans look. Yes, we come in more flavor’s then Baskin Robins. So now that we've gotten that all cleared up.
I am attractive Puerto Rican, Male looking to meet interesting people all over the world. I am currently single hoping to meet the right man someday. There's different photo’s so you know what I look like. However, I am going to give you a brief description anyway. I am 31, 5'7, 170, muscular build, goatee, short black hair, brown eyes, ripped abs, nipple ring, tattoo's.
I was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Chicago. I am the oldest out of 11 siblings. We’re a very close and affectionate family. My family is from Loiza Aldea, PR and came to the States nearly 46 years ago. During that time, they had to struggle to make here in America. Today as a Latino culture, it is still a struggle to make it. Puerto Rico is part of the United States but even as American citizens we’re still treated as strangers. You will probably never meet a Puerto Rican that’s not pride of his culture. We represent our flag and colors every opportunity we get.
I hope you enjoy my site as I plan to have many cultural things to help people understand how diverse the Puerto Rican culture is. Also to clear up any misconception about Puerto Ricans.
Since I've had my site up, I have been asked many times what "Boricua" means. "Boricua is what Puerto Ricans call one another as a term of endearment, respect, and cultural affirmation; it is a timeless declaration that transcends gender and color. Boricua is a powerful word that tells the origin and history of the Puerto Rican people." I discovered what "Boricua" actually stood for. It meant "Brave Lord". Boricua was derived from the word Borinquen, or "Land of the Brave Lord," which is what the Puerto Ricans natives-the Arawak Indians-called their island before Christopher Columbus confiscated it for the Spanish crown in 1493.
I am currently reading a book called "BORICUAS" by Roberto Santiago. I have read so many books on the history and have surfed the net many times over for information to better educate myself about my people. This has to be the best book that I have ever read. It is about influential Puerto Rican writings-an anthology. I truly recommend this book to any Boricua to read. I also encourage anyone that want to know more about Puerto Ricans to get a copy you won't be sorry. I do plan to put a couple articles in my article page that I thought was truly interesting and touched me personally.
PS: I've had some many requests that I've added personal information about me under articles. I am planning on updating and adding new things whenever I can find the time. So, look for new changes to come.
