The number of hits a search engine returns on a particular subject is a good way to gauge society's interest in that subject. The market system works. People discuss what other people want to hear about. The more people who are interested in a subject, the more sites you will find dedicated to, or at least mentioning, it on the internet.
I used Google to search for pairs of various words and phrases to see which people are more interested in, which they care more about.
